Some of my favorite sessions never leave the living room, and the Buda family's morning in Walnut Creek was exactly that kind of quiet and good. Their son was a month old, still curling his hands into fists in his sleep, still small enough to fit in the crook of an elbow, and we spent the whole session just letting him do what one-month-olds do best: sleep, stretch, and get held.

No posed lineups, no forced smiles at the camera, just mom and dad trading him back and forth, a kiss on the top of his head, two hands forming a heart over the bassinet while he slept underneath. The morning light through their window did most of the work. It's the kind of session that doesn't need a location to feel special, just a family who's still a little in awe of the newest person in the house.
